    Wilkie demands 'delaying pokies trial'

    Clubs ACT is expecting significant delays in the trial of pre-commitment technology for poker machines in Canberra.

    The trial to curb problem gambling is due to start in the capital next year and is subject to negotiations between the Federal Government and Clubs ACT.

    The pre-commitment technology requires gamblers to set limits on the amount of money they are willing to lose on high-betting machines before they start playing.

    The Government plans to roll out the technology nationwide in 2016, pending the results of the ACT trial.

    Independent MP Andrew Wilkie is concerned about the wording of the Government's poker machine legislation and is demanding the trial be linked to wider changes.

    Clubs ACT CEO Jeff House says Mr Wilkie's concerns, which are delaying the introduction of the legislation, have stalled decision making on the trial.

    "The roadblock is Andrew Wilkie," he said.

    "We can't make any further substantive progress in those negotiations until the outcome of that legislation is known.
