Paris Hilton, known first for starring in a sex tape and next for profiting from it, jetted off to Las Vegas to celebrate her 31st birthday and won $30,000 on a game of blackjack . Paris, known as a “celebutante,” (a celebrity who lacks talent, but is known for a superficial existence), vowed to become a more charitable person after an epiphany during her stint in jail for a DUI offence followed by probation violations. After serving time behind bars, Paris vowed she would start a “new beginning” – at least – that’s what she told talk show host Larry King two days after being released from jail.

Of course, Paris tried to make good on her pledge – even going so far as to visit South Africa – but that trip wound up with Paris merely throwing herself a party in Johannesburg following a kids’ school meet and greet. At the party, Paris posed for pictures with her then-boyfriend  Benji Madden, while also telling the crowd that she “loved South Africa, the accent and everyone.” That was Paris’ philanthropic efforts.
